You bring your coaching issues to the ‘here and now’ of the supervision conversation and with Jenny Teuten, create the agenda that will take your practice forward.
You design the agenda and contract that best supports your professional growth and the specific needs of your clients – individuals, couples and teams.
How does coaching supervision work?
Sessions are one hour in length either in person or on the phone. The frequency you choose depends on your current coaching schedule and the nature of your work.
It’s recommended you start with at least six hours supervision and then after that you arrange a booster session when an issue becomes pressing.
Sessions 1 and 2:
- Creating the optimum container for learning and support
- Co-creating the agenda and contract
- Presenting client issues discussed
Sessions 3, 4, and 5:
- Deepening conversation of client issues, behaviours and coaching practice
- Development of own ‘internal supervisor’ and learning needs
- If necessary, re-contracting.
Session 6:
- Learning review and development next steps.
So how does supervision differ from coaching?
- Opens up a bigger picture
- It considers many systems so is very effective when your clients work in multi-layered and complex organizations and are struggling to cope with pressures from all directions
- Insight emerges that can be fed back to your client and client organization
- Explores any anxiety, doubts or frustration you may be experiencing in your practice in service of your growth as a professional coach
- Prevents you from getting ‘hooked’ into your client’s dynamic as a supervisor has more distance from the situation and can give you alternative perspectives.
